Research Interest

In the PeptLabs, Italy and France, that I founded and coordinate, the teams are involved in the development of peptide and protein biomarkers for chemical immunology studies to investigate the molecular mechanisms of immune-mediated diseases, to identify cross-reactive infective agents, characterizing specific and high affinity antibodies. The skills in solid-phase synthetic strategies of peptides, glyco-, and other posttranslationally modified peptides, clicked peptides, expression of specifically modified glycoproteins are instrumental to technology transfer of peptide-based API, in vitro diagnostic, prognostic, and theranostic tests, and more recently of cosmeceuticals.

Personal Statement

All along my professional career, I have been strongly involved in organizing in research universities with an entrepreneurial environment, open PeptLabs as knowledge hubs, attracting international students interested in translational research to advance peptide innovation. As APS councilor, I propose to facilitate dynamic relationships with european peptide research ecosystems in academia and industry, thanks to the experience acquired in networking, both as active member in the board of the European Peptide Society, and deputy president of the international affairs of the School of Sciences of the University of Florence.
