CHEMICAL BIOLOGY POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW

Prof. Irwin Chaiken, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Drexel University

Chemical Biology POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW TO INVESTIGATE STRUCTURE-BASED SYNTHESIS AND Functions OF HIV-1 ENV Inactivators

The position is for a recent PhD awardee to join a multi-disciplinary research group investigating peptidomimetic and recombinant inactivators of HIV-1.  This research has opened up opportunities for • structure-based synthetic design, • mechanistic investigation of Env in virus-cell entry, and • antiviral drug development.  Candidates should have demonstrated experience in peptidomimetic design and synthesis, a deep knowledge of protein structure and antagonism, and a strong motivation to learn and use a combination of peptide/protein science and molecular/virological functional assays to help drive the investigation of next-generation irreversible inactivators of HIV-1 Env on viruses and cells.  Interested candidates should send a curriculum vitae, three support letters, and a cover letter describing career goals and relationship of prior experience to our HIV-1 Env antagonism research program.
